Samsung’s Exynos 2500 chipset is reported to outperform Apple’s A15 Bionic in power efficiency. The Exynos chipset is expected to enter mass production in the second half of 2024. The development of Samsung’s Exynos chips has been somewhat turbulent so far. Initially, it was reported that due to low efficiency, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 would solely power the Galaxy S25 series. However, recent reports indicate progress with Samsung’s Exynos 2500 prototype.
Exynos 2500 to Produce More Power Than A15 Bionic
The next-generation advanced silicon has shown capability of operating at higher frequencies and being more efficient than Apple’s A15 Bionic. Previous reports on Samsung’s 3nm GAA process suggested it was limited to just 20% efficiency.
However, Samsung has provided assurance, stating during the Samsung Foundry Forum (SFF) and Samsung Advanced Foundry Ecosystem Forum (SAFE) events held earlier this month in Seoul, that the Exynos 2500 chipset on the 3nm GAA node delivers stable efficiency and performance. Shortly after these announcements, positive developments were observed with the prototype.
Samsung has achieved clock speeds of 3.20GHz in tests, and the SoC has proven to be more efficient than Apple’s A15 Bionic. There are also rumors indicating that initial CPU and GPU tests of the Exynos 2500 chip surpassed those of Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Samsung continues to work on the chipset, aiming to prepare it for launch in the coming months.
